Reed's brother vanishes; safety's status for Ravens unclear

Ed Reed's younger brother is missing after apparently jumping into the Mississippi River on Friday.

The Baltimore Ravens are unsure of Pro Bowl safety Ed Reed's status for Sunday's AFC wild-card playoff game at Kansas City, according to team sources.
A man believed to be a brother of Reed has been missing since Friday afternoon, when he reportedly jumped into the Mississippi River to evade police.
Karen Reed, the mother of Ed and Brian Reed, said investigators in Louisiana found shoes and a jacket belonging to Brian Reed, 28.
The Ravens organization is supporting Reed and remains in contact with him and his family. As of Saturday morning, it was unclear whether Reed will travel with the team to Kansas City.
The Ravens are departing Baltimore for Kansas City at 2 p.m. ET.
Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange of the St. Charles Parish (La.) Sheriff's Office said authorities were unable to identify the man who jumped in the river. He said the man had jumped into the river around 10 a.m. Friday when a deputy told him to put his hands behind his back.
LaGrange says the deputy had spotted the man with a parked car that matched the description of a stolen vehicle.
Authorities have called off the search for the missing man.
